1841 Census of Ashton Under Lyne

Three more EDs of Ashton Town centre have now been uploaded to the web site.

EDs 9 to 11 comprising Currier Lane and the adjoining area, plus the areas between Cavendish Street and Welbeck Street. ED9 was a particularly poor film and so if there are any errors in transcription, I've done my best.

As usual, all are available from c5d.co.uk/censuspages.php

Three more Eds added this week, all from 1841.

EDs 17 & 18 of Ashton Town Centre, the area from Penny Meadow to the Northern Side of Stamford Streat including George Street. Also added is ED 5 of Audenshaw covering Hooley Hill, to the Blue Pig. Much of this was farmland and is now under the Aundenshaw Reservoirs!

Another 1841 ED has been uploaded today. It's ED 20 and covers the rather widespread area of Botany, Cock Brook, Higham Fold, Stamford Crescent. These days this is all built up, but there were only some 300 houses or so in all of that area in 1841. You can view it from c5d.co.uk/censuspages.php

It's been a while since I updated anything on here, but since my last update, I have completed all the censuses of Knott Lanes, including my take on the water damaged entries. I have completed all of the Hartshead district, and much of the 1939 Index of the area.

I have also made a start on the two other sub districts. Ashton Town and Audenshaw and Droylsden.

The start page is still the same: www.c5d.co.uk/censuspages.php
